New Kelly ad “Command” on bringing leadership, problem solving to the Senate

Today, the Mark Kelly for Senate campaign announced a new TV ad, “Command”, about how Mark Kelly will bring the leadership and problem solving skills he gained while commanding the space shuttle to tackling issues in Washington. The ad features footage of Kelly aboard Space Shuttles Discovery and Endeavour. In it, Kelly stresses how Washington is failing to solve problems even during this crisis.

Kelly went to space four times during his career at NASA, twice as the commander of the space shuttle, including when he commanded Space Shuttle Endeavour on its final flight in 2011.

“When you’re commanding the space shuttle orbiting the Earth at twenty five times the speed of sound, you don’t mess around when a problem comes up. You work together to solve it because lives are on the line,” Kelly says in the ad. “We have serious challenges right now, and I’ll work with Republicans and Democrats to lower health care costs and get the economy back on track.”

Below is the transcript for “Command”:

[Mark]:

When you’re commanding the space shuttle orbiting the Earth at twenty five times the speed of sound you don’t mess around when a problem comes up.

You work together to solve it because lives are on the line.

But Washington isn’t solving problems, not even in the face of a national emergency.

We have serious challenges right now, and I’ll work with Republicans and Democrats to lower health care costs and get the economy back on track.

Because that’s what Arizona needs. I’m Mark Kelly and I approve this message.
