Mark Kelly on Fort Huachuca Funding Raid: “An Arizona senator never should have voted for this”

Today, U.S. Senate Candidate Mark Kelly issued the following statement after Senator McSally voted again to siphon military construction funding to pay for border wall construction knowing that it means taking $30 million from Fort Huachuca. Last week it was reported that the Army had said the project at Fort Huachuca was to replace “unsafe facilities” that “jeopardize personnel health.”

“First, Senator McSally said Arizona military bases were protected. Then, she failed to protect $30 million for Fort Huachuca. Now, she’s doubling down and taking away funding from a military base that is essential to Arizona and our national security,” said Mark Kelly. “It’s unacceptable. An Arizona senator never should have voted for this.”
