Mark Kelly: No excuse for Senate’s failure to act on COVID-19 support
Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan agreement to provide public health and economic support in response to COVID-19 by making testing free and more widely available, providing paid sick and medical leave for many workers, and offering greater unemployment insurance and food assistance.
The Senate left Washington last week, and has still not scheduled a vote on the bill.
“The Arizona small business owners, workers, and health care providers I have spoken with are already seeing the impact of COVID-19, and it’s clear that they need support right now,” said Mark Kelly. “As national and Arizona public health experts are taking more serious steps because we are in a critical moment in the fight against COVID-19, there is absolutely no excuse for the Senate failing to pass this agreement immediately.”
