Mark Kelly Celebrates 101st Anniversary of Grand Canyon National Park
In celebration of today’s 101st anniversary of the Grand Canyon becoming the 15th U.S. National Park, Mark Kelly released the following statement:
“The Grand Canyon is a treasure not just for the state of Arizona, but for the planet. Seeing the Grand Canyon from space was pretty incredible, but not as incredible as seeing it in person,” said Mark Kelly. “It’s up to us to protect and preserve it so that future generations can continue to enjoy the Grand Canyon’s beauty for decades to come – and that includes protecting it from uranium mining.”
Mark has previously said he opposes uranium mining near the Grand Canyon, and that he supports Senator Sinema, Rep. Grijalva, and Rep. O’Halleran’s proposal to permanently protect the Grand Canyon area from uranium mining.
