Arizona State Senator Jamescita Peshlakai Announced as Mark Kelly’s Treasurer
Today, Mark Kelly officially announced that Arizona State Senator Jamescita Peshlakai will serve as treasurer on his campaign for the U.S. Senate in Arizona.
Peshlakai is Arizona’s first indigenous female State Senator, and is serving in her second term in the Arizona Senate after previously being elected to the Arizona House of Representatives.
Peshlakai is the first member of a tribal nation to endorse Mark Kelly’s campaign. Peshlakai and Kelly are both military veterans, and both served during the First Gulf War. Peshlakai also spoke at Kelly’s launch events last month in Tucson and Phoenix.
“I’m thrilled that Senator Peshlakai is part of our team,” said Mark Kelly. “As a fellow veteran and Arizona’s first indigenous female state senator, she has shown a strength and dedication to helping others that I admire and will help us in our mission. I’ve said that winning this campaign is going to take bringing together Arizonans from all walks of life, and there’s no one better to do that than Senator Peshlakai.”
“I’m excited and honored to be part of this team to help elect Mark Kelly to the United States Senate,” said Senator Peshlakai. “Mark is focused on issues that matter to my community like providing affordable health care and raising wages for working people. I look forward to working with Mark to ensure that he hears from indigenous people, veterans, women, and folks here in northern Arizona, and that they hear from him.”
