Mark Kelly: Unacceptable that lawsuit continues to threaten health care system during pandemic
Last week, Governor Doug Ducey requested a special open enrollment period on the federal healthcare marketplace to help Arizonans impacted by COVID-19. The governor’s call to action comes as a lawsuit to eliminate health care reforms continues to threaten the marketplace along with AHCCCS expansion that covers hundreds of thousands of Arizonans, and coverage for 2.8 million Arizonans with pre-existing conditions.
In response, Mark Kelly issued the following statement:
“It’s simply unacceptable that this lawsuit threatens to upend our health care system, eliminate protections for Arizonans with pre-existing conditions, and throw a lot of people off of their coverage in the midst of a pandemic,” said Mark Kelly. “In Arizona, and all across the country, people are losing their jobs and health benefits through no fault of their own. Now, more than ever, we should be putting politics aside and taking steps to ensure all Arizonans can get affordable health care that they need.”
