Today, the Mark Kelly for Senate campaign released its newest TV ad, “Price Gouging,” in which Senator Mark Kelly speaks directly to Arizonans about his efforts to hold oil companies accountable and bring down gas prices. In the Senate, Kelly has introduced legislation to suspend the federal gas tax until the end of the year, successfully called on the Biden administration to release gas from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves, and urged the White House and oil companies to increase domestic production.
“When corporations take advantage of a crisis – that’s price gouging. And it’s wrong,” said Senator Kelly in the ad. “So I’m leading the fight to hold companies accountable, increase domestic oil production, and cut the federal gas tax.”
The new ad is just the latest sign of momentum for the campaign. Mark Kelly for Senate first went up on TV in February. Since then, the campaign has also begun communicating with voters in Spanish and Diné, on TV, radio, and digital platforms. In the past month, Mark Kelly for Senate also launched “Latinos for Kelly,” a coalition of over 100 Latino leaders backing Kelly and “Republicans for Kelly,” a group of nearly 50 Arizona Republican and Independent leaders coming together to support his re-election. The campaign also recently announced that it raised $13.6 million in the second quarter with an average donation of $34.
Below is the transcript for “Price Gouging:”
[Kelly] Even when gas prices go up, Arizonans still have to get to work, take their kids to school, make it to that doctor’s appointment.
But as families struggle, oil companies are earning record profits.
When corporations take advantage of a crisis – that’s price gouging. And it’s wrong.
So I’m leading the fight to hold companies accountable, increase domestic oil production, and cut the federal gas tax.
I’m Mark Kelly and I approve this message, because Arizonans can’t afford corporate greed.
