Kelly Introduces The Gas Prices Relief Act

Every day Arizonans see Senator Kelly going to work to lower costs for Arizonans, cut taxes for working families, and create jobs for the state. Just this week, he introduced the Gas Prices Relief Act, which will suspend the federal gas tax for the year, providing immediate relief for Arizonans – $0.18 per gallon of gas.

Senator Kelly understands that this issue is among the most pressing for Arizona, and this bill continues his work to lower food and gas prices, lower prescription drug costs, and boost microchip manufacturing in Arizona to create good-paying jobs and address supply chain challenges.

AZ Republic: Sen. Mark Kelly bill would suspend federal gas tax to ease costs

Kelly, D-Ariz., and Hassan, D-N.H., have introduced legislation that would lower the total price of gas by just under 20 cents per gallon.

The federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon for standard gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel fuel. With implementation of the Gas Prices Relief Act, the federal tax would be suspended until Jan. 1, 2023.
